It is an interesting article. I might tweak the author's point just a bit - that what motivated Luther the most wasn't so much bad behavior in itself, but how the corruption of his day obscured the Gospel.
Even if we were to clean up everyone's behavior (including our own) all we'd be is right behaving and lost rather than wrong behaving and lost. Or as Jesus put it, we'd just be "white washed tombs." I.e., clean on the outside, but still dead on the inside.
